Hereford Metal Detecting Society is the only metal detecting club in Herefordshire and we would like to welcome you to our website. We hope that you will find something of interest.

We are a small group of like minded individuals that share the same passion for unearthing Herefordshire's hidden past. The club has been in existence for some 17 years with some members being here since the beginning.  Our members range from complete novices to hardened searchers, with a wealth of knowledge on all things metal detecting related and more, so if you are local why not call in and pay us a visit ?

The club and its members work closely with our county Finds Liason Officer, Peter Reavill of the Portable Antiquities scheme, in order to identify and record items of over 300 years old and also items of interest that all form part of the story of our lost past.

We are also happy to help search for lost items, so if you need our assistance please contact us using our contact form and we will be pleased to help.

Hereford Metal Detecting Society are presently seeking new search permissions within the county and our neighbouring counties.
Can you help ?
No matter the size of your property, finds can turn up literally anywhere, so all permissions will be gratefully received.
We are responsible detectorists who will respect your property and are fully insured. Any finds of value are split equally between land owner and finder.
Please use our contact form to let us know if you can support our group by granting us permission to detect.
